| Beginning Fall 2005, a staggered class schedule will go into effect on all New Brunswick/Piscataway campuses—College Avenue/Downtown New Brunswick (CAC/DNB), Busch/Livingston (BL), and Cook/Douglass (C/D)—to provide students with more time for intercampus travel. Although classes will continue to be offered in paired standard period combinations, actual class times, rather than periods, will now be referenced in all publications.
As a result of increased transfer time between classes, there will be no restrictions on registering for back-to-back classes on different campuses as long as the transfer time between classes is at least 40 minutes.
The schedule is changing to reduce the high volume of traffic that occurs during class-changing times. This new schedule was one of the strong recommendations made by the Route 18 Widening Committee chaired by Paul Leath. The new schedule will help reduce congestion and delays by more evenly distributing traffic throughout the day.
Except for staggered start times, the basic format of the class schedule will remain the same. Classes will continue to meet for 80 minutes twice a week or for 55 minutes three times a week.
