While the primary purpose of instructional space is for courses and exams, Rutgers faculty, staff, and Rutgers-recognized student groups may submit requests to reserve classrooms when they are not in use.

Policies for Instructional Space Reservations are available on the Instructional Space page of this website.

  • The University has adopted a Protection of Minors Policy to promote the well-being and safety of minors who participate in programs or activities run by or associated with Rutgers. The policy includes requirements relating to reporting suspected abuse or neglect of minors, completing relevant online training, and undergoing background checks for Authorized Adults and people in Direct Contact Positions as defined by the policy. Non-University organizations that wish to operate programs or activities involving minors on RU campuses must ensure their programs are run consistent with the guidelines of the University Protection of Minors Policy and the Guide to Working with Minors. For more information, please visit https://protectminors.rutgers.edu.

  • It is University policy to excuse without penalty students who are absent from class because of religious observance, and to allow the make-up of work missed because of such absence. Examinations and special required out-of-class activities shall ordinarily not be scheduled on those days when religiously observant students refrain from participating in secular activities. Absences for reasons of religious obligation shall not be counted for purposes of reporting.

Students are advised to provide timely notification to instructors about necessary absences for religious observances and are responsible for making up the work or exams according to an agreed-upon schedule.

For additional information, please see the Respect Faith Practices page managed by University Equity and Inclusion.

  • The Units of Credit policy states that the course credit shall be the academic currency to be used in all schools and colleges of Rutgers University in measuring a student’s progress towards a degree, giving value to time requirements and academic rigor.

Details on the number of minutes per credit are available within this policy.
