Meet the Staff

Chris Morett, Director, guides the daily operations of the office and provides strategic direction on office policies and practices.  He also advises on the planning of new instructional and learning spaces throughout the New Brunswick campuses.  Chris has taught lectures, seminars, and hybrid courses at several universities. Chris received his BA from Rutgers University and his Master's in Public Policy and PhD in Sociology from the University at Albany. He is on the board (secretary) of the Higher Education Facilities Management Alliance, which is composed of space- and classroom-management colleagues primarily from the Big Ten Academic Alliance. He is also on the Mid-Atlantic Council of the Society for College and University Planning. He joined the office in 2011.

Amy Brainard, Associate Director, oversees the daily course scheduling operations and plays a major role in setting the strategic direction for the office. She oversees the freshman sectioning process each summer, helping to ensure that more than 5,000 incoming students get as many of their desired courses as possible. Amy also provides training for departmental staff on the Course Scheduling System and the IMS mainframe system. Amy has worked full-time at Rutgers since 2004, starting in the Rutgers College Dean's Office and serving as Assistant Dean for Student Data Management and Special Projects at the School of Arts and Sciences, before taking her current role in February of 2016. Amy has advised students extensively and has taught the Students in Transition seminar for first-year transfer students. She holds both a Masters of Library and Information Science and a BA from Rutgers.

Space Management

Christine Syvertson, Space Planning Analyst, helps to manage data on the occupancy and utilization of more than nine million assignable square feet of space under the New Brunswick Chancellor. She also conducts space utilization studies and helps to inform space planning within Rutgers-New Brunswick space. Christine worked previously in space management at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, after having received her BS in Engineering there.

Course Scheduling

Kamini Chopra, manages all summer and winter session course scheduling. She our point person for the Office of Disability Services, working to ensure that all Rutgers students are assigned to classrooms they can access. She also processes all Master Course List change requests. Kamini joined our office in 2016 and has worked at Rutgers since 2013, when she joined the School of Communication and Information. She received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Delhi, Lady Irwin.

Joy Montuoro, Senior Scheduling Officer, manages fall and spring semester course information and scheduling for academic departments. Joy joined our office in 2010 as a Principal Secretary.

Beth Nehlsen, Senior Scheduling Officer, manages fall and spring semester course information and scheduling for academic departments. Beth has has been a part of our office since 1989. Beforehand, she worked as a bank teller and worked in her family’s retail business.

Exam and Event Scheduling

Charlotte Holland, Principal Secretary, schedules events for departments and student groups, and provides clerical support for both the scheduling and space management operations. Prior to joining the Scheduling and Space Management, she also worked in the Departments of Accounting, Biological Sciences, Math, and Geological Sciences. Before coming to the University in 1987, Charlotte was employed by Bell Labs as a computer operator.

Kassandra Galarza, Unit Administrator/Specialist

Maria St. George, Administrative Coordinator, serves as our office manager, as well as overseeing scheduling all common hour and final exams, and room assignments for placement testing, orientation, student groups, and special events. She also is in charge of electronic door openings and closings for classroom buildings. Maria also helps plan and execute all special events that the office holds. Maria began her Rutgers career in 1997.
